The Yaputu Al-Huda Pucung Orphanage is located in Bantul Regency, an area with high disaster vulnerability—particularly to earthquakes, as the regency was the most severely affected during the 2006 earthquake. Children residing in social institutions like orphanages are a high-risk group due to limited access to information and disaster-related experience, as well as the absence of adequate mitigation systems within the institutions. Community service activities were conducted to enhance knowledge regarding disasters, mitigation strategies, and preparedness among the orphanage's adolescents and caregivers through awareness-raising and educational approaches. The methodology employed included preliminary observation, risk identification, and subsequent awareness and education sessions. Data collection utilized total sampling; the results involved 11 male and 11 female adolescent participants, with the largest cohort falling within the 10–15 age range (20 respondents). A participatory approach involving direct education for the adolescents proved effective in improving their understanding of disaster mitigation within the orphanage environment, as evidenced by the fact that all respondents were able to answer questions during the session
