EDUKASI DAN PENDAMPINGAN PENGGUNAAN DAUN SIRIH SEBAGAI ANTISEPTIK ALAMI DALAM MENGATASI DERMATITIS PADA MASYARAKAT

Abstract

Dermatitis is a common skin inflamation that reduce quality of life if not properly managed. Limited public knowledge regarding its causes, prevention, and treatment remains a major issue. This community service ained to improve community knowledge and skills in utilizing betel leaf as a natural antiseptic. The activity was conducted at Puskesmas Klaitanjung on December 17, 2025, using participatory education methods including lectures, demonstration, and hands-on practice. A total of 30 participants were involved. evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test as well as practical observation. The results showed an increase in knowledge from 45% to 85%, and 75% of participant were able to correctly practice the preparation and use of betel leaf. betel leaf contain active compounds such as phenols, flavonoids, tannins, and essential oils with antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflamatory properties. This activity proved effective in improving community understanding and independence in managing mild dermatitis.
