ABSTRACT
Syncope, or fainting, is a condition characterized by a temporary loss of consciousness due to a sudden decrease in blood flow to the brain. It commonly occurs among adolescents, particularly students engaged in strenuous physical activities and outdoor programs such as the extracurricular Nature Lovers Generation (GPA). A lack of knowledge and first aid skills in managing syncope can increase the risk of injury and complications. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge, understanding, and responsiveness/readiness of students participating in the Nature Lovers extracurricular program at SMK Canda Bhirawa Pare in providing first aid for syncope incidents. The methods used included health education through lectures, discussions, and practical demonstrations of syncope first aid conducted over two days. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure students’ level of understanding before and after the intervention. The pre-test results showed that all participants (100%) were in the low understanding category. After receiving education and training, the post-test results indicated an improvement in students’ understanding, with 53.3% in the moderate category and 46.7% in the good category. This activity has proven effective in increasing students’ knowledge and preparedness in dealing with syncope incidents. It is expected that similar educational and training programs can be implemented continuously as promotive and preventive efforts in managing emergency situations in the school environment, particularly among students engaged in high-risk activities.
