The objective of this community service programme is to improve the nutritional status of children by disseminating knowledge on the importance of a balanced diet and exclusive breastfeeding. The programme was implemented through a health promotion approach that involves families, especially mothers, in the consumption of a diet that includes a variety of nutritious foods, including proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals. In addition, mothers are encouraged to exclusively breastfeed their babies for the first six months of life, as this is believed to support optimal growth and development. This activity was conducted through direct counselling to mothers in the local community. The materials presented included an overview of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, an introduction to the nutritional value of age-appropriate foods, and guidance on how to prepare balanced meals. In addition, participants were encouraged to implement appropriate feeding practices to prevent under- and over-nutrition, including stunting and obesity. It is expected that the programme will facilitate a deeper understanding of the importance of nutritious diets and exclusive breastfeeding in improving child health and reducing the incidence of malnutrition in the community. The success of the programme will be evaluated through monitoring changes in community nutrition knowledge and behaviour, as well as assessing the nutritional status of children after the implementation of the programme.
