Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by persistently elevated blood glucose levels. Indonesia ranks fifth in the world in the number of sufferers, which is around 19.47 million people from a total population of 179.72 million. In the Mekarmukti Health Center working area, 435 people or 1.69% suffer from diabetes. The survey showed that in the Mekarmukti Health Center, there was a low understanding of the elderly of the signs of diabetes emergencies, the lack of physical activity carried out, and the high risk of complications due to uncontrolled diabetes. To overcome this, community service activities were carried out by training 30 elderly people through the drill method with the buerger-allen exercise movement. The activity took place on March 17-23, 2025, consisting of the preparation stage, implementation of education and training, and evaluation. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in performing the exercise. This exercise is proven effective in improving peripheral blood flow and is recommended as a non-pharmacological therapy that can be done regularly to reduce the risk of diabetic complications in the elderly.
