ABSTRACT Introduction: Hypertension in the elderly is still one of the causes of heart failure, stroke, kidney disease and death. Decreased physical abilities such as thickening of the artery walls cause blood vessels to narrow and stiffen so that there is an increase in blood pressure in the elderly. Methods: This study was descriptive with a case study approach of 2 elderly participants with hypertension. Data collection was conducted using observation sheets and SOP sheets and data analysis through an analysis unit with interpretation criteria, namely blood pressure measurement before and after treatment. Results: Blood pressure before being given the application of hydrotherapy (soaking feet in warm water) with a mixture of salt and red ginger Ny.I 161//95 mmHg Ny.S 166/90 mmHg. The application was given 6 times over a period of 2 weeks with the response of both patients, namely in Mrs. I felt more relaxed and helped reduce tingling pain in the legs and in Mrs. S who initially felt anxious and tense became more relaxed and comfortable. Blood pressure after hydrotherapy (soaking feet in warm water) with a mixture of salt and red ginger decreased in Mrs. I 135/82 mmHg and in Mrs. 145/85 mmHg. Conclusion: The application of hydrotherapy complementary therapy (soaking feet in warm water) with a mixture of salt and red ginger can lower blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. This research can be carried out routinely and without having to use drugs.
