Abstract

Appropriate complementary feeding (CF) is a key strategy in preventing stunting during the first 1,000 days of life. In Muktiharjo Kidul, the prevalence of stunting and at-risk children remains high, necessitating community-based interventions through the empowerment of Posyandu cadres. This community service activity aimed to improve cadres’ knowledge and skills regarding complementary feeding using locally available foods based on balanced nutrition principles.

The methods included health education, group discussions, and practical demonstrations, with evaluation conducted using pre-test and post-test analyzed descriptively. The results showed an improvement in cadres’ knowledge, indicated by an increase in the “good” category from 43% to 83% and a decrease in the “poor” category from 15% to 0%.

This activity proved effective in enhancing cadres’ capacity. Continuous empowerment of cadres is expected to improve early detection and nutritional interventions, as well as promote positive behavioral changes in child feeding practices to support stunting prevention.
