Anemia was one of the nutritional problems commonly experienced by adolescent girls and tended to increase in post-flood conditions due to disrupted dietary patterns and limited food availability. This community service activity aimed to improve adolescent girls’ knowledge of anemia through post-flood health education at Bina Bersaudara 1 Private Vocational High School in Medan. The activity was conducted on December 17, 2025, targeting eleventh-grade students. A promotive and preventive health education approach was implemented through material presentation and interactive discussion. Evaluation was carriedout using pre-test and post-test to assess changes in participants’ knowledge levels.
The activity involved 70 students, with the analysis focused on 45 adolescent girls as the high-risk group. The results showed that before the educational intervention, most adolescent girls had moderate and low levels of knowledge regarding anemia. After the intervention, the proportion of adolescent girls with good knowledge increased, while the proportion with low knowledge decreased markedly. The average knowledge score also increased after the educational intervention was implemented.
In conclusion, post-flood anemia education was effective in improving adolescent girls’ knowledge and has the potential to serve as an applicable promotive and preventive strategy in the school setting, particularly in post-disaster conditions.
