ABSTRACT
The Family Planning (FP) program is a key strategy by the Indonesian government to curb population growth and improve maternal and child health. However, the coverage of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) in Central Java remains low, reaching only 26.01% in 2023. In Semarang City, just 29,591 of 231,520 couples of reproductive age (CRA) used intrauterine devices (IUDs) or implants. This community engagement initiative, conducted in RT 2 RW 3, Kudu Subdistrict, Genuk District, sought to address the low LARC utilization among women of reproductive age (WRA). A fishbone diagram analysis identified the core issue as inadequate contraceptive use, especially LARC, among this group. The intervention involved health education sessions on LARC, evaluated using pre- and post-test questionnaires. Results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge (p-value 0.000 < 0.05), confirming the effectiveness of the intervention in enhancing LARC awareness among WRA. It is recommended that similar educational efforts be sustained and expanded to other regions, supported by close collaboration between healthcare providers, community health cadres, and local authorities. Employing interactive methods such as group discussions or simulations is also advised to strengthen understanding and encourage participants to apply FP knowledge effectively in daily life.
