Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires continuous efforts to prevent complications by strengthening the role of community health cadres. This community engagement activity aimed to improve the capacity of health cadres in preventing diabetes mellitus complications through health education and practical training. The activity was conducted in Pesawahan Village, Binangun District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, from June to July 2026, involving 35 health cadres. The program consisted of three stages: health education, training and practical sessions, and application and dissemination of educational materials. Cadre capacity was evaluated by measuring knowledge and skills before and after the activity using structured instruments. Data were analyzed descriptively and using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test with a significance level of 0.05. The mean knowledge score increased from 56.57 to 81.29, while the mean skill score increased from 9.34 to 17.17. The analysis showed significant changes in both knowledge and skills (p<0.001), with large effect sizes for both variables (r=0.87). The activity was associated with improved cadre capacity following the education and training series and supported cadres’ readiness to provide education on diabetes mellitus complication prevention in the community.
