EDUKASI PENCEGAHAN PENYAKIT INFEKSI MELALUI PENERAPAN PHBS DI SMP SWASTA AL-MANAR MEDAN
Abstract
This community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge and behavior in preventing infectious diseases through the implementation of clean and healthy living behavior at SMP Swasta Al-Manar Medan. The identified problem was the low level of students’ awareness regarding personal and environmental hygiene, which potentially increased the risk of infectious diseases. The methods used included educational counseling, demonstrations of proper handwashing practices, and assistance in implementing clean and healthy habits within the school environment. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-intervention measurements of students’ knowledge and behavior. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding of the importance of personal hygiene, as well as better behavioral changes in maintaining health. In conclusion, education combined with direct practice was effective in improving the implementation of clean and healthy living behavior as an effort to prevent infectious diseases in the school environment.
