PENINGKATAN PENGETAHUAN MASYARAKAT TENTANG ZAT KIMIA BERBAHAYA DALAM MAKANAN DAN MINUMAN

The use of hazardous chemicals in food and beverages, such as formalin, borax, rhodamine B, and methanyl yellow, is still found in society and poses serious health risks. This community service activity aimed to increase public knowledge about the dangers of these substances and provide simple methods to identify unsafe food. The methods used included preliminary surveys, counseling, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations. The activity involved more than 50 residents of RT 02 RW 08, Limau Manis Village, Pauh District, Padang City. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, from 35% before the activity to 80% after. The high level of enthusiasm was reflected in active participation during discussions and the use of educational media such as videos and posters. This program proved effective in raising community awareness to be more selective in choosing safe food and beverages. Sustainable efforts through routine counseling and digital media utilization are needed to ensure continuous application of this knowledge.
