The primary nutritional intake for infants is breast milk (ASI) as it contains all the necessary nutrients. The quality and quantity of breast milk are highly influenced by the diet consumed by breastfeeding mothers. The inability to meet the nutritional needs of mothers and the insufficient production of breast milk is often caused by an imbalance in the mother's diet. One of the factors affecting the nutrition of breastfeeding mothers is the lack of knowledge about balanced nutrition that they need to fulfill. Therefore, education is essential.
The community service activity aims to increase knowledge about balanced nutrition for breastfeeding mothers in Jabiren Village, Pulang Pisau Regency. The target participants of this activity are 20 breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 0–24 months. The implementation method includes lectures using PowerPoint presentations, booklets, and interactive Q&A sessions. The evaluation design involves pretests and posttests, with the N-Gain test used to assess the improvement in understanding.
The results of the community service activity showed that the average knowledge score of breastfeeding mothers increased from 65.62±16.16 before the intervention to 83.75±10.02 afterward. The percentage of understanding among participants regarding balanced nutrition for breastfeeding mothers was categorized as high for 20%, moderate for 60%, and low for 20%.
